Rakuko Naito currently lives and works in New York since 1958. She experienced one of the most significant movements including Op Art and Minimal Art during 1960’s in the US. Her exclusive manner which is developed from these styles gives her work its own ineluctable presence.

Since the late 1990’s, Naito has worked on the series that she places organic natural materials such as paper, wood or cotton in a systematic pattern. These works exude the sense of her sophisticated Japanese aesthetics as well as the element of Western avant-garde arts.

Whitestone Gallery Tokyo is pleased to present over 30 representative works of Rakuko Naito from the late 1990’s to this day. We sincerely look forward to seeing you.
